Research first, design second. You can’t communicate a brand in any creative way until you first understand the depths of it… why you’re designing, your target demographic, your reasoning, your mission, and everything in between.
I focus my designing by first truly understanding the project at hand. Before I ever take the pen to sketch pad, or mouse in hand I make sure that I catch your vision of what you need from me. This saves valuable energy, time and money in conceptualizing, revising, and editing. I’ll ask questions, do research, and find reasoning to back up all that I deliver, and this comes with quicker turn-arounds and more spot-on results.
Whether it is a tiny icon or a big website, my mission is first and foremost to accurately communicate your company and to never design anything without strong reasoning to back it up.
One of my favorite parts of design is logo design, and probably because it gives me the challenge of communicating an entire organization or company vision such in a little tiny space. If I can get that right, then the rest of the creatives are easy because they all come back to the research done in your branding and they build up from there.
